SmoothWall Product Driver Disks

Published - Mar 2007

For Corporate Firewall 5, Advanced Firewall 2 & School Guardian 5 Users
The new SmoothWall driver disk set includes drivers for two additional types of NIC:

BroadCom BNX2:
  • Broadcom NetXtreme II: BCM5706, BCM5708
  • HP: NC370T, NC370i, NC370F Multifunction Gigabit Server Adapter
Realtek R1000:
  • RTL8169S/SB/SC (PCI)
  • RTL8168B (PCI-Express)
  • RTL8101E (PCI-Express)
The BroadCom 57xx chip is especially popular with HP. Most of the newer Proliant servers utilise these NICs.

For Advanced Firewall 2 & School Guardian 5 Users
With this driver disk Advanced Firewall 2 (and School Guardian 5) will now support the following SAS cards:
  • Dell (branded as "Perc 5"): LSI SAS1064, SAS1064R, SAS1064E, SAS1068, SAS1068E, SAS1078
  • HP Smart Array: E200, E200i, P400, P400i, P600, P800
  • Adaptec AIC-9405W, Adaptec AIC-9410
"Dell Perc 5" is Dell's catch-all term for many different boards, making identification difficult. But generally most, if not all, Dell SAS machines should be supported with this driver set. The HP Smart Array driver is an updated driver; Advanced Firewall 1 and 2 support some Smart Array interfaces out of the box, including some SAS cards. The driver disk adds support for the P600 and P800 versions. The Adaptect 94xx cards are popular on IBM eServe machines.
