The Detroit Lions is a National Football League (NFL) team. Ford Field (home of the Detroit Lions) offers facilities for sporting events, trade & consumer shows, concerts, meetings, banquets and a wide variety of special events.

How many users/computers do you support and how are they spread out?

“Our organization has approximately 160 full time employees.”

What environment is your Smoothwall product running in?

“The facility has a mixture of Windows, Linux, and MAC clients but our servers are primarily Windows based.”

What type of user authentication do you use?

“We currently use Active Directory for authentication.”

Why did you choose Smoothwall?

“We were looking for a system that was capable of securing our network but allow us to learn more about our users requirements.  Guardian allows us to take a better look at what our users are currently doing on the internet (social networking, email, IM, etc.).  This information assists in trending our user’s future requirements.”

What has your Smoothwall product enabled you to do?

“The UTM 300 has enabled us to manage our users requirements and build a secure perimeter at the same time.  We are now able to hone in on what our users need today and also prepare for their future requirements.”

How has your Smoothwall product made you or your colleagues job easier?

“The UTM 300/Advanced Firewall system is very easy to navigate.  It allowed us to educate our network administrators on how to utilize the system in a very short period of time.  In turn, this allows the network architects to spend their time incorporating the additional features the firewall provides (i.e. VPN services).”
